What Evidence Is There That the Writer is an Authority in the Frederick Douglass?

What Evidence Is There That the Writer is an Authority in the Frederick Douglass? The author of this article and many others in this series on writing for the internet, should be called to answer a simple question: What evidence is there that the writer is an authority in the Frederick Douglass? This simple question is certainly not difficult to answer. One author answers this question with a quote from Frederick Douglass in his Autobiography: 'How many men dare call themselves a true American, without having read Douglass?' If one author can be so bold as to claim that all scholars must have read Frederick Douglass, let alone be able to cite a quote from Douglass himself then how do we know that this author is not simply speaking for him and indeed the book he wrote is not written by this author? If the author of this article does not recognize that all authors should not claim to be an authority of any single field but rather be accountable to their fields, he is quite simply misinfor med. It is unfortunate when authors cannot acknowledge the field that they are in. After all, this particular author does not write about Frederick Douglass or he would not have gotten this quote from Douglass and, thus, is not an authority of his own field. If the author really wants to get at the question posed, 'What evidence is there that the writer is an authority in the Frederick Douglass? ', he might want to consider hiring a research assistant who could read the world wide web and come up with the names of writers who have studied Frederick Douglass and have published writings which address the question of who wrote Frederick Douglass' Autobiography. If the author finds a handful of names which address the question, 'What evidence is there that the writer is an authority in the Frederick Douglass?' then he should have little difficulty locating others who have written extensively on Frederick Douglass and that could supply the name of the author. So, what evidence is there that the writer is an authority in the Frederick Douglass? It would appear that there is none.In his response, this author talks about the popularity of the author. When it comes to this particular question, 'What evidence is there that the writer is an authority in the Frederick Douglass?' if the author is so important and has written so much and published so many books and articles, then why doesn't he claim to be an authority of his own field? To state the obvious, the author of this article does not seem to recognize that he should be a leader of his own field, that he should be the best in his field and that he should be accountable to the community of experts. By definition of his own field, this author cannot be an authority of anything.
